From the recording Hold Me Like You Used To Do

I was in Guatemala during a time of year when many fireflies are out at night.  I thought of how fleeting their lives are and this inspired the lyrics.

HOLD ME LIKE YOU USED TO DO

Hold me like you used to do,
When we were so young.
And kiss me like you used to do,
When we'd just begun.

'Cause I never forgot.  No, I never forgot.
You were the one.

The years go by, like butterflies. They flutter and fall,
In the sun.
The years go by, like fireflies, that wink and blink,
'Till there're none.

But I never forgot.  No, I never forgot.
You were the one.

And, oh, the cold, has taken its toll,
On ev'ry love story ever told.
The summer heat will soon retreat,
Again.

So hold me like you used to do,
When we were so in love.
And kiss me like you used to do,
When forever was never,
Enough.

'Cause who can undo what's not undone?
You're still the one.

And, oh, the cold has taken its toll,
On ev'ry love story ever told.
The summer heat must soon retreat,
Again.

So hold me like you used to do,
When we were so young.
And kiss me like you used to do,
When we'd just begun.

'Cause I never forgot.  No, I never forgot.
You're still the one.
