From the recording 9. I'm Not Some Reprobate

I wanted to write another blues song but I was tired of the standard blues chord progressions (such as E7 A7 E7 A7 B7). Instead of going from E7 to A7, my song goes from E7 to A#7; instead of A7 back to E7, the song goes from A7 to C#7, etc. The result is a rather strange-sounding blues song. In spite of the unusual chord progressions, I think it still retains a somewhat bluesy sound because the guitar plays blues-style riffs.

I’M NOT SOME REPROBATE

I’m not some reprobate. I’m just a little inebriated.
I’m not some ingrate. Don’t hate me, but lately,
I feel like a neonate. Been late on the up-take.
Now I can not satiate, my need for another date,
With you, oh, with you.

I’m not a manipulator. Won’t take you down the up elevator.
I’m not some potentate. Can’t control what’s to be our fate.
But I can definitely state, that I won’t desecrate.
I won’t alienate. I won’t liquidate.

Just stay and see.

Not one to debate or deliberate. Won’t understate or insinuate.
I’m not one to relocate. Won’t abandon or separate.

I feel we’ve reciprocated. Hope we can consecrate.
I feel we’ve resonated. Hope we can consummate

I can definitively state: there’s something great to be.
Let’s not debate or deliberate. Let fate be our destiny.

Just stay and see.

I’m not some reprobate. I’m just a little inebriated.
I’m not some ingrate. Hope now you’re alleviated.

Hope you’ll stay and relate.
Hope it’s not too late.
Not too late.
