From the recording 1. All Reversed

I became interested in interspersing backward music (from guitar, bass, drums and vocal) with standard, forward music and this musical goal inspired the lyrics below.

ALL REVERSED

Everything I do comes undone. Every scheme I spin comes unspun.
Every jest I make becomes a pun. Every rest I take becomes a run.

Every bit of fun’s now undone.
Every floating feather now weighs a ton.
Every two has now shrunk to one.

Everyone is everyone’s no one. I’m all reversed, reversed.
Reversed.

All the practiced are now unrehearsed. All the blessed are, now so cursed.
All those floating are, now immersed. All the healthy must, now be nursed.

The more I drink the more I thirst. I’m all reversed, reversed.

I just keep slippin’ back.
What was taut now is slack.
What was on line now is off track.
What was solid now has a crack.

What was loved now gives me flack. What was in front now is in back.
What was a thrill now’s just a hack.

All that I once had, now I lack. I’m all reversed, reversed.

Every bit of fun’s now undone.
Every floating feather now weighs a ton.
Every two has now shrunk to one.

Everyone is everyone’s no one. I’m all reversed, reversed.
Reversed.

All the self-contained now must burst.
All the muted are now well-versed.
All that’s last is now the first.
All that’s best is now the worst.

The more I drink the more I thirst.
I’m all reversed, reversed; all reversed.
Reversed.
