From the recording 4. You Gotta Weep

I came up with some fast guitar riffs and so I needed to write a song where I could use those riffs. Also, someone I care about was complaining about the stresses of everyday life and these lyrics were my response to her situation. This song has the most lyrics of any song I have ever written.

YOU GOTTA WEEP

When you’re grabbed by the devil, you gotta sing like a bat out of hell.
When you’re nabbed by the devil, you gotta sing like a bat out of hell.

And you gotta leap, into the storm. You gotta keep, your psyche warm.
You gotta sweep, away the stones. You gotta seep, into my bones.
You gotta reap, the seeds you sow. You gotta dive deep, to dare to know.
You gotta climb steep, for your highest goals. You gotta heap up, your pile of coals.

And you gotta weep, for my savage soul.
Oh, you gotta weep, for my ravaged soul.

You gotta know, when to heed the call. You gotta know, just when to stall.
You gotta know, when to slice the air. You gotta know, when to face a dare.
You gotta scream, for your long-lost dreams. You gotta mean just what you seem to mean.
You gotta have gall, to push the wall. You gotta stand tall even when you gotta fall.

And you gotta weep, for my savage soul.
Oh, you gotta weep, for my helpless soul.

You gotta block before you can swing and sock. You gotta lock before you can knock.
You gotta take stock before you can mock. You gotta punch the clock before you can rock.
You gotta be on call before you can dock. You gotta have a hall before you can talk.
You gotta crawl, before you can walk. You gotta brawl, before you can rock.

And you gotta weep, for my savage soul.
Oh, you gotta weep, for my damaged soul.

You gotta give away before you can keep.
You gotta be knee-deep in [bleep] before you can freak.
You gotta tear the beast’s lair. You gotta stare into your own nightmare.
You gotta lay bare your hidden heart. You gotta take care to play your part.
You gotta put the horse before the cart. You gotta throw the dart, to find a new start.

And you gotta weep, for my savage soul.
Oh, you gotta weep, for my fiery soul.

You gotta have pride in all your gains. You gotta have tried even with all your pains.
You gotta hide all those bloody stains. Oh, you gotta hide, all those bloody stains.
You gotta go, against the grain. You gotta grow, and try to use your brain.
You gotta duck low, and wax and wane. You gotta ebb and flow, to stay insane.

And you gotta weep, for my savage soul.
Oh, you gotta weep, for my sinful soul.

You gotta go toe to toe, against the inane. You gotta strike a blow, even if it’s in vain.
You gotta go with the flow, in the drivin’ rain. You gotta beat your foe; not go down the drain.
You gotta get off the daily dole. You gotta pay your debts; try to get whole.
You gotta not fret when you pay the toll. You gotta get wet, to rock ‘n’ roll.

And you gotta crawl outta your hole for my poor soul.
You gotta weep, for my sorry-ass soul.

You gotta nip it when it’s in the bud. You gotta shoot from the hip, even when it’s a dud.
You gotta rip out all that crud. You gotta strip down when you’re in the mud.
You gotta hang on yet, if you’re gonna rock. Gotta be offset, if you’re gonna roll.
You gotta cast your net, if you’re gonna rock. Gotta ride the jet, if you’re gonna roll.

And you gotta wake from your sleep for my poor soul.
You gotta weep, for my sorry-ass soul.

You gotta slay all your private dragons. You gotta circle all your mental wagons.
You gotta pray, not to ever stray. You gotta stay even when if can’t have your way.
You gotta fly, when you’re high and dry. You gotta try even when you’re gotta sigh.
You gotta not cry when you gotta lie, and you gotta pry when you gotta know why.

And you gotta weep, for my savage soul.
Oh, you gotta weep, for my severed soul.

You gotta give, oh my oh my. You gotta give even when your end is neigh,
And you gotta live until it’s time to die. You gotta live until it’s time to die.

And you gotta weep, for my savage soul.
Oh, you gotta weep, for my
ravaged
soul.

Oh, my savage soul.
Oh, my savage soul.
